Ranger Training

Ranger Training

‘’Learning up young fellas, we gotta keep putting them through ”

“Younger people need to know how to keep Country healthy. They can work with scientists.”

It is important that there are ongoing and formal on-Country training opportunities for rangers. Wiluna Martu Rangers want to be able to take on more responsibilities in the management of their lands and improve their chances for ongoing employment. It is important that rangers who complete training are recognised for their efforts.

TMPAC will be proud of all rangers that complete training. Wiluna Martu Rangers have given important presentations at conferences including the WA Threatened Species Forum and biannual Indigenous Desert Alliance events in recent years.

These trips give rangers an opportunity to build on their leadership skills through meeting new people and public speaking. It is an important aspiration for Martu to have the next generation trained up for the future management of Country and to participate significantly in joint management opportunities with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
